CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITIES

AVI is proud to be an outstanding citizen at both a corporate, national and local level. We work diligently to promote and contribute to institutions that mirror our company’s core values and beliefs. We partner with many national organizations and charitable foundations such as American Cancer Society, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Make-A-Wish Foundation. AVI team members in the Youngstown-Warren (Ohio) community rally together to participate in the annual Tri-County Heart Walk, raising thousands of dollars for the American Heart Association.

In addition, AVI is active in our local community, supporting schools, universities and non-profits in reaching their goals. One of these many partnerships includes Inspiring Minds, a non-profit outreach organization that encourages and develops youth and adolescent students to expand their reach into new cultures and experiences. Leaders within the AVI organization spend time mentoring, teaching and attending events with Inspiring Minds.

We do this through offering diverse dining experiences that honor cultures from around the world through our authentic, ethnic dishes and dining concepts. As our founder, John Payiavlas, says, “We’re not in the food business, we’re in the people business.” In that sense, we place great importance on creating a workplace that is conducive to the success of all employees, and we continuously work to offer opportunities for inclusivity across the company.

Company Wide DEI Initiatives Include:

  • Cultivating a harassment-free culture with HR standards, DEI training and round-table discussions
  • Recruiting and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds, including, but not limited to, cultural, racial, gender identity, socio-economic, educational, sexual orientation, and age differences
  • Ensuring daily inclusion and empowerment of every team member, strengthening our collective bond and removing barriers
  • Supporting up-and-coming entrepreneurs, notably women and minority-owned businesses
